Alright so let’s talk about wigs for a moment.
We all know the saying ‘you get what you pay for’, and when it comes to wigs this is very true! You don’t want to be stuck with a wig you purchased because it was ‘cheap’ and it ends up being just that. A cheap wig.
It’s also common knowledge that generic ‘party’ or ‘halloween’ store wigs will not hold up, and it’s up to you to avoid the tempting price of $6.99 for a wig from these stores. But trust me when I say you have better options available to you!
Please note: Wherever you purchase your wigs is your choice, and this blog entry is my own personal thoughts on wigs for cosplay as well as a list of sellers that I both personally use and reccomend. You don’t have to agree with my list, and by all means make your own to share with others!
Price is not all that matters when purchasing a wig.
You don’t have to always go for the high quality wig sellers to find a good wig for your costume! You can find some good sellers on Ebay and Amazon by connecting with other cosplayers who purchase off these sites and who can reccomend various these sellers based on experience.
You can also check sellers ratings and reviews on different sites to see what others thought when receiving a wig for ‘cheap’.
Keep in mind many sites use ‘stock photos’, meaning the same generic photo of the wig on a person or wig head and this may mean what you order may not be exactly as shown in said image.
One site I absolutely love is Ruler Cosplay/My Cosplayer for wigs!
I have ordered several wigs from them and they always are soft and easy to manage wigs without any strange smells that you can sometimes get with ‘cheap’ wigs. The wigs range anywhere from $9.99 (they have sales all the time!) to $30. So they are worth looking into if you need a wig for a low cost.
I will also share with you one of my favorite places to order cosplay wigs from (besides Arda) which is Aliexpress.
This is a cosplayers paradise for low cost wigs and costumes, but the trick is knowing which sellers to purchase from and which ones are not worth your time or money. One of my favorite sellers on Ali is linked below! I wanted to share with you all some of my ‘go too’ places for my cosplay wigs!
Shumeier Store -I have purchased 5 wigs from this seller!
Another great place to purchase wigs is EpicCosplay.
My Yoko Littner wig came from EpicCosplay and for being a wig with a long pony tail it’s held up very well! I would argue that for the tail it has held up better than Arda’s tailed wigs! Definitely a seller to look into if you are needing a tailed wig.
But if you have the extra income to spend on wigs I cannot express enough my love for Arda Wigs and Purple-Plum!
Purple-Plum has a new location in Illinois so if you live in the midwest and need a wig in a hurry you can place your order and expect your wig in about 1 week!
I actually purchased 3 wigs from Purple-Plum and one of these I purchased during a local convention that PP was at. Love these wigs! They are super soft and easy to work with, and they have lots of unique styles too!
And as always, Arda-Wigs has (in my personal opinion) the most high quality of wigs for cosplay! This also means you can expect to pay anywhere from $35-100 on a wig from Arda. If you have never purchased from Arda I highly suggest you invest in a good Arda Wig, and one you can use for multiple characters because you will love the wig!!!
I will be doing a list of Contact Sellers I both use and reccomend next her eon my blog, so be on the lookout for that!
