Happy: When did you begin cosplaying and what got you interested in the hobby?
Pyro: I began cosplaying since 2008 I been into anime much longer but my friend is like there is a con in Huntington and I managed to go one day.
Happy: What do you remember about your first day cosplaying at a convention?
Pyro: I dressed up as Lady Bat from Mermaid Melody I remembered joining in the dance outside they played caramell dasen I never heard of it and failed but tried. I bought some stuff and got pictures and made some friends.
Happy: Do you consider yourself more of a prop maker or seamstress?
Pyro: I am a beginner seamstress. I make so much props too if I can. Not big stuff.
Happy: Is their anyone who really inspires you and why?
Ares: Yes there are 2. Because they are awesome and they don’t care what they look like they do whatever and go anywhere.
Happy: Have you ever-experienced harassment or bullying while cosplaying?
Pyro: I’ve not had any bullying but there was times I just feel like no one wants to hang or be friends but turns out sometimes I do end up hanging with someone.
Happy: Are there things you have learned through this hobby that you never would have guessed to have learned before you started cosplaying? If so what are these new skill traits?
Pyro: I learned that I can create a character and bring it to life if I really want to.
Happy: A lot of people get overwhelmed or ‘brunt out’ over time with this hobby called cosplaying. Have you ever felt that way, or do you feel like you ever would? What would you say to those that maybe feeling burnt out now?
Pyro: Yeah I mean I went through a lot of major depression because of my ex but I just forced myself to go anyways. I end up enjoying my time.
Happy: What is it about cosplaying that you love?
Pyro: I feel like when I dress up I am someone besides me. Like I’m the character and i feel stronger.
Happy: What is it about cosplaying you dislike?
Pyro: The hassle.. it getting dirty or rip or someone slamming into your wings and don’t apologize for it especially when it breaks.
Happy: Why do you cosplay? Why do you keep coming back to it?
Pyro: I just enjoy cosplaying. I do it because I think it’s fun.
Happy: Have you ever hurt yourself accidentally or intentionally for cosplay?
Pyro: I poked myself with a needle.. I walked on my just repaired ankle and fell and hurt myself..
Happy: Over all how would you rate the cosplay community as a whole?
Pyro: I think it can be judgmental. I think the judges can play favoritism. But I think it’s great you have your good vendors and your bad.
Happy: Do you have a dream cosplay you would love to do someday?
Pyro: I have a few. Sailor Chibimoon teenager and Konno Yuuki from sword art online, mew ichigo from Tokyo mew mew, sango demon slayer form from InuYasha.
Happy: What was an amazing experience you had in cosplay that you will never forget?
Ares: Being on stage, meeting new friends and seeing them at other cons. Experiencing new and unfamiliar places in the world and trying out new things and going to new places.
Happy: Has cosplaying presented you with challenges? If so what sort of challenges? Were they hard to overcome? Are you still working on overcoming them?
Pyro: Yeah I have issues with the costume I like to learn to solve these issues without having to keep replacing an item so much.
Happy: What is your favorite convention right now to attend?
Pyro: I love Tsubasacon and Colossalcon.
Happy: What is a convention you would REALLY like to attend one day and why?
Pyro: I really like to attend any of the ones I never been to. Especially the huge ones, more towards Texas and California way.
Happy: What are your future goals with cosplaying?
Pyro: I really don’t have a future goal with cosplaying maybe being a singer or being in some skits and Masquerade but nothing major. The future goals in real life are the same I just like to do stage time and play dress up and do skits and stage performances.
