Happy: When did you begin cosplaying and what got you interested in the hobby?

Eru: Oh, it was about 3 and a half year from now. I always was a fan of anime, games etc. and my best friend invited me to the first convention I’ve ever been on. When I saw so many great cosplayers I thought „Yeah, that’s what I want to do”

Happy: What do you remember about your first day cosplaying at a convention?
Eru: Everybody saw me and screamed “Oh my god, look, it’s L,(as I was cosplaying as him) can I hug you and take a photo?” It was really amazing.

Happy: Do you consider yourself more of a prop maker or seamstress?

Eru: I’m more into prop making but don’t mind sewing too.

Happy: Is their anyone who really inspires you and why?

Eru: Well, I’ve always looked up to Akatsu Cosplay Nook (https://www.facebook.com/AkatsuCNHer costumes are beautiful, her make up is great too but what’s really awesome about her cosplays is how she gets into character, for eg. You feel like you’re talking to Yato, not Akatsu.

Happy: Have you ever-experienced harassment or bullying while cosplaying?
Eru: No, fortunately no, most of the people I’ve met while cosplaying was really nice.

Happy: Are there things you have learned through this hobby that you never would have guessed to have learned before you started cosplaying? If so what are these new skill traits?

Eru: I’ve never thought that I’ll ever be able to sew and in fact it’s really helpful, goodbye ripped clothes!

Happy: A lot of people get overwhelmed or ‘brunt out’ over time with this hobby called cosplaying. Have you ever felt that way, or do you feel like you ever would? What would you say to those that maybe feeling burnt out now?
Eru: Sometimes, when my cosplay is very time-consuming and I’m about halfway through it, I don’t have the strength to finish it. All you have to do is take a little break, do some other things. After a while, when you start working on it again, you’ll finish it in no time. That was a case with my Ultron cosplay which took me several months to complete but turned out pretty good.

Happy: What is it about cosplaying that you love?
Eru: It’s that feeling when I meet people on conventions, when they start to recognize me, take photos with me.

Happy: Why do you cosplay? Why do you keep coming back to it?

Eru: I’ve met most of my closest friends because of cosplay. It makes it easier for me to make friends. And of course I really like it, I love making new props and costumes.

Happy: Have you ever hurt yourself accidentally or intentionally for cosplay?

Eru: I’ve burned myself with the hot glue gun multiple times, making props is not an easy task.

Happy: Over all how would you rate the cosplay community as a whole?

Eru: On one hand, most of the people are very helpful for new cosplayers but on the other many people want to be the very best and dislike criticism.

Happy: What are some of your favorite cosplays you have worn?

Eru: Well, I really like my L outfit from Death Note simply because it’s very comfortable. But my most favorite costume is my male!Black Rock Shooter. Long black coat, sword and a big gun, yeah, that’s my style.

Happy: Do you have a dream cosplay you would love to do someday?

Eru: Someday I’d love to do something big, like Iron Man Hulkbuster ot Reinhardt from Overwatch but I don’t think it can be done anytime soon.

Happy: What was an amazing experience you had in cosplay that you will never forget?

Eru: My favorite memory is from last year’s 27. International Festival of Comics and Games in Lodz. It was the first time I was on stage on a big event. After our performance everyone laughed, everyone screamed, we had the biggest round of applause out of everybody there.

Happy: Has cosplaying presented you with challenges? If so what sort of challenges? Were they hard to overcome? Are you still working on overcoming them?

Eru: I was very shy and cosplay has helped me develop more contacts with others. Now I just want to learn how to dance to be more nimble on stage.

Happy: What is your favorite convention right now to attend?
Eru: I really like going on Animatsuri in our capital city, Warsaw.

Happy: What is a convention you would REALLY like to attend one day and why?
Eru: I’d love to go to Blizzcon or Comicon in USA.

Happy: What are your future goals with cosplaying?

Eru: I want to get better and better with making costumes and getting into character. Outside of cosplay, I want to study computer design after I finish high school.
