Happy: When did you begin cosplaying and what got you interested in the hobby?
Atsu: I started cosplaying in July 2012. My little sister took me to my first con and when I say all those cosplayers cosplaying I wanted to cosplay to. Even when I was little I always wanted to dress up as my favorite characters.

Happy: What do you remember about your first day cosplaying at a convention?
AtsuThat I was a little nervous, I didn’t know anyone of the cosplayers yet. Luckily I had two of my best friends with me.

Happy: Would you consider yourself more of a seamstress or a builder?                              AtsuI’m more a builder. I make all my props myself. I love figuring out how to make things. I tried making my own cosplay but I’m not that good at sewing.

Happy: Is their anyone who really inspires you and why?

Atsu: There are a lot of cosplayers that inspirer me. There are so much talented cosplayers in the world.

Happy: Are there things you have learned through this hobby that you never would have guessed to have learned before you started cosplaying?
Atsu: I learned to work with thermoplastic and with a heat gun. I learned there are a lot of ways to make a prop.

A lot of people get overwhelmed or ‘brunt out’ over time with this hobby called cosplaying. Have you ever felt that way, or do you feel like you ever would? What would you say to those that maybe feeling burnt out now?

Atsu: Not yet because I always start on time with my cosplays so that I avoid the stress of fixing my cosplay the night before a con. And I still have a lot of fun cosplaying. To the cosplayers that are a little burned, take a little time for yourself and avoid stress. Plan a lot of time to make your cosplay, so that you can take your time.

Happy: What is it about cosplaying that you love?
Atsu: I love everything. I love the being able to be my favorite characters. I love meeting new people when I’m wearing my cosplays.

Happy: What is it about cosplaying you dislike?
Atsu: What I dislike is that some people get an ego when they are getting a little attention. That they change in a bad way. I dislike that come cosplayers get discriminated because of their skin color, gender, size, etc. Cosplay is for everyone.

Happy: Why do you cosplay? Why do you keep coming back to it?

AtsuI cosplay because it’s fun. I love meeting new people with the same hobby and interests.

Happy: Have you ever hurt yourself accidentally or intently for the sake of cosplay?
Atsu: I have burned my fingers a few times when I was making props. I’ve worn shoes that gave me blisters and hurt my feet.

Happy: Over all how would you rate the cosplay community as a whole?

Atsu: The community is very welcoming. There are a lot of cosplayer that welcome everyone and are friendly to others. But there are always exceptions, some think they are better than other cosplayers.

Happy: What are some of your favorite cosplays you have worn?
Atsu: My favourite cosplays that I have worn are Kuro from Servamp, Phichit from Yuri on Ice, Bak Chan from D. Gray-Man and Female Gray from Fairy Tail.

Happy: Do you have a dream cosplay you would love to do one day?

Atsu: Yes I have one dream cosplay I would love to do one day. And that is Yubel from Yu-Gi- Oh! Gx.

Happy: What was an amazing experience either in cosplay or at a convention that you will never forget?
Atsu: Being on stage and singing a song while I was super nervous.

Happy: What is your favorite convention right now to attend?
Atsu: My favorite convention is Made In Asia in Brussel because it’s a con for anime and manga lovers. And Manga & Cosplay festival in Hasselt because it in a beautiful location perfect for beautiful pictures.

Happy: What is a convention you would REALLY like to attend one day and why?
Atsu: I want to visit Yaoicon one day because I’m a big Yaoi fan!

Happy: What are your future goals with cosplaying?                                                                             Atsu: My future goal is learning how to sew so than I can try making my own cosplays
